Feel free to tell me what must be included in the next releases to make this tool useful for you

Hi.

Love the CSS Menu generator. I am not a coder so I don't fully understand the underlying script. What I would like to see in the tool is the following.

1) The ability to import submenus and the corresponding URLs from a csv file, rather than having to manually add each line. Or the ability to create most of it from a folder listing and then it would be just a simple text edit on the saved cmg file.
2) The ability to have chosen options open up in a "new" browser window rather than just change to the URL in the same browser window, (I am sure if I knew what code to change, I could do it, but a option within the product would be nice Smiley
3) If you do some changes and close the product, it doesn't prompt you for saving your changes.

Grant.

Thank you very much for your feedback.

All of your notes above will be great additions and I promise I'll try to implement them as soon as possible. Right now I am fixing a bug in the program interface and will start working on what you offer as soon as I get this bug fixed.

I have just installed the program and already like it !

If the user hits Close button, the program should ask if the current layout has been modified and not saved.
Please do include a check before executing Close for peolpe like me, who clock close too fast !

I promise this will be the first addition to the next release. I hope I will get few hours free to work on this in the coming days, so we should have the next release before the end of the week.

It would be also nice to have a link to the forum directly from the program (as in ScreenRuler).
Of course this is definitely very low on the priority list ...

New version of CSS Menu Generator has been published:

http://wonderwebware.com/css-menu/cssMenuGenerator.exe

Now the tool will ask you do you really want to quit when there are unsaved changes. And the quick link to this forum added in the main menu. The other two features requested are still in my todo list and I hope I'll be able to work on these in the coming week(s).

It is little strange to publish 2 versions in 2 days, but this is my way to say "Thank You" for joining this forum.

I am using css menu generator as an introduction to CSS for one of the courses that we are teaching in our school. We are having a problem with the temp files as the pupils have no access to the C drive. is it possible to use a network share for the temp files?
Is it possible to create an MSI package from the .exe to make it easier to install this program acros our network?

I am really proud to hear you are using this toy in class (probably because I was a teacher for several years)

On the question: unfortunately I didn't develop these tools with network usage in mind. I understand the problem with the access permission and the first idea that comes in my mind is just to copy the exe file on the workstations (you don't need to install with the setup, the whole program is just the exe). By default it writes the temp files in the current folder so I suppose it will work when it is located on the workstation...

To make it to work in network environment I must somehow channge the code to detect and write the scratch files on the local pc, but here is a problem: I have only one box here, don't have even a notebook to test/build this for lan...

Hmm, will meditate on this to see is there some way to fix it without actually testing it, but I doubt I'll succeed... En brief: this question found me not prepared. Will try to figure out some solution as soon as I can.

Seems like a great tool but would love to see more support. Especially for new users like me wanting to find out how to center a Horizontal Menu bar (Created using CSS Menu Generator).
Maybe there's a way you could add the menu bar positioning as a feature?

I agree there should be such feature and I will try to add more customization options in next releases.

Bonjour,

Actually, although I think I understood the question, I am not sure I understand the problem. The charset is not related in any way to the menu itself, you can set the charset in the html page itself. However, I suppose you mean the preview, the charset in the tool itself, and if so -- yes, I probably will need to find a way to fix this (although utf-8 is in general the best choice for multi-language support...)
